Overview

This three day course run by director Conor Morrissey (Red Rock, EastEnders, Casualty)  is designed for multi-camera directors who want to improve their single camera directing skills and/or transition to single camera projects. Drawing on Conor Morrissey’s extensive experience of working in both disciplines the course will be a practical, deep dive into the similarities and the differences between the multi-camera and single camera forms and how each form can compliment the other

Exploring the three phases of production – prep, shoot and post production – this course will be an intensive exploration of the skill set necessary for single camera direction. It will focus on the areas of script, shot listing, cinematography, performance styles, stunts/VFX and the edit. The course will devote a full day to a practical exercise where the group, working alongside a camera professional, will take scenes from a multi-camera script and reimagine them in single camera form.

The course will also explore the area of career management and the critical relationships that need to be managed in order to transition your career from multi camera to single camera projects.

At the end of the course the participants will have the tools necessary to work on single camera projects as well as many practical tips on how to elevate their work as multi-camera directors.

The course is limited to 12 participants so that each participant will get individual attention in the execution of the practical exercises.
